Deputy minister of Industry & Trade, Cao Quoc Hung, visited and worked in TBS Group

In the morning of May 12, 1977, Mr. Cao Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade and other senior leaders visited some of the manufacturing establishments in the leather footwear and handbags sectors of TBS Group.

TBS Group has been developing on par with the leading FDI firms and leading in strategic innovation directions, increasingly engaging more deeply in the global supply chain. In 2017, TBS became one of 10 Vietnamese most prosperous enterprises, and is especially noted for achievements in business development and active contributions to the community and society.

On this occasion, Deputy Minister Cao Quoc Hung listened to reports of the Group’s achievements and expressed confidence with the modern governance model: integrated system technology would help TBS increasingly grow. He also praised the spirit of striving, together with outstanding achievements, helping TBS become one of the leading enterprises in the footwear industry nationwide.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thuan, Chairman of TBS also made some suggestions to the deputy on this occasion. First of all, to exploit the great potential of Vietnam’s fashion industry and promote strong business advantage, it is necessary to re-plan, or restructure the industry. He also encouraged the deputy to set out the overall development strategy for the whole sector in the context of international integration, with the assignment or labor shifts, accompanied by guidelines and policies to encourage investors and companies to focus on 2 basic issues: Science/Technology and Administration.

For labor resource orientation, he also shared: “There is a fact that human resources as well as science and technology activities in Vietnam are limited. It is necessary to consider how many institutes and training centers and research centers have capacity to invest in order to work out a common strategy for effective human resource development. Previously, there were a lot of policies and guidelines for the footwear industry, but they were not based on actual data and information which were incomplete or inaccurate, therefore, the formation did not really meet the requirements of objective reality. Incorrect assessment and planning will make it difficult to come up with appropriate policies and not be able to stimulate the industry’s potential.”

Deputy Minister Cao Quoc Hung and his colleagues appreciated the methodology as well as the approach to this scientific and objective issue. From information collected from this actual visit, the delegation will grasp the situation as well as recognize the recommendations from TBS Group and other enterprises in the sector to advise the Government on new decisions which are more macro-level and more appropriate.
